Little Acorns Children’s Center
Assistant Director / Lead Teacher Position Summary:

Supports the Director in daily center management, staff supervision, and compliance with Title 22 regulations. Seraves as Director in their absence and serves as the Lead Teacher in one of the classrooms. All employees are expected to support and reflect the Center’s Christian mission and values in ways that are appropriate for young children and consistent with California Community Care Licensing requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement preschool curriculum aligned with developmental standards.
- Supervise children and maintain safety at all times. .
- Supervise teachers, assistants, and volunteers.
- Observe, document, and assess child development.
- Prepare classroom materials and maintain organized, safe, and clean environment.
- Guide children’s social-emotional growth and behavior management.
- Communicate with families regarding child progress.
- Ensure compliance with Title 22, health, and safety regulations.
- Additional trainings as required
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.

Additional Assistant Director Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Help implement curriculum and educational programming.
- Monitor health, safety, and sanitation practices.
- Assist with parent communication and staff evaluations as needed.
- Step in as acting Director when needed.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or equivalent experience.
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory experience in child care.
- Knowledge of Title 22 licensing standards.
- Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification or enrollment in next available class; TB clearance; criminal background clearance.
Lead Infant Teacher (0–2 years) Position Summary:
Provides nurturing care and early learning experiences for infants and toddlers while ensuring a safe and healthy environment. All employees are expected to support and reflect the Center’s Christian mission and values in ways that are appropriate for young children and consistent with California Community Care Licensing requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and care for infants and toddlers at all times.
- Supervise assistant teachers and volunteers.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities (sensory, motor, social-emotional).
- Maintain individual care routines (feeding, diapering, naps).
- Observe, document, and report children’s development and behavior
- Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary classroom and outdoor environment.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding child progress and needs.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and Title 22 regulations.
- Additional trainings as required.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of at least 12 ECE/CD units, including at least 3 infant units or Child Development Teacher Permit (per Title 22 for infant teachers).
- Experience caring for infants and toddlers.
- Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification or enrollment in next available class; TB clearance; criminal background clearance.

- Patience, nurturing, and strong observation skills

Assistant Teachers work under the supervision of a fully qualified Teacher and are expected to actively participate in the care and education of children while continuing to develop professionally.
- Assist teacher in supervising children and implementing activities.
- Help maintain classroom cleanliness and safety.
- Support daily routines (meals, naps, transitions)
- Assist with documentation and communication with families
- Additional trainings as required.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 6 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development, or currently enrolled and actively working toward completion
- Ability to meet all requirements under California Title 22 child care regulations

Little Acorns Children’s Center
Teacher Aide (0-6 years) Position Summary:
Supports lead teachers in all classroom activities and daily routines to ensure a safe, nurturing environment. All employees are expected to support and reflect the Center’s Christian mission and values in ways that are appropriate for young children and consistent with California Community Care Licensing requirements.Teacher Aides work under the direct supervision of a fully qualified Teacher and do not have primary responsibility for a group of children.
Minimum Qualifications
- No ECE units required
- Must meet all requirements under California Title 22 child care regulations
- CPR and First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively with a team
- Genuine care and patience for young children
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with daily classroom routines and transitions
- Support children during activities such as play, meals, diapering, and toileting
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment
- Prepare materials and assist with classroom setup and cleanup
- Offer comfort and support to children as needed
- Model kindness, respect, and positive interactions
Supervision & Licensing Expectations
- Work under the supervision of a fully qualified Teacher at all times
- Will not be left alone as the sole supervising adult with children
- May assist with supervising small groups of children only when a qualified Teacher is present and responsible for the group
- Will not be assigned primary responsibility for any group of children
- Follow all health, safety, and supervision requirements in accordance with California Title 22 child care regulations
Growth Opportunity
Teacher Aides who are interested in pursuing a career in early childhood education are encouraged to begin coursework in ECE. Opportunities for advancement into an Assistant Teacher role may be available as education requirements are met.
